Christine Hylbert, Board Chair
Christine Hylbert has recently retired as Executive Director of the Boulder County Bar Association. She served as chair of the Access to Justice Committee for the 20th Judicial District for 16 years. She worked for the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations as the Public Education Director for 11 years prior to coming to Boulder. She has been the Executive Director of the Colorado Bar Foundation and Boulder County Bar Foundations.
J. Michael Swetye, Treasurer
Michael earned an MBA in Finance, Marketing and International business from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business and an AB in Economics from Hiram College. His career was in corporate finance and investment and commercial banking. He retired from The World Bank/International Finance Corporation where he led teams making loans to and equity investments in private companies in the developing world. Early in his career he served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa where he was a consultant to small businesses. His deep family ties to Colorado go back to a great-great aunt who homesteaded here. He and his wife moved to Boulder to be near their daughter and three grandchildren.
Claudia Muro, At Large
Claudia Muro holds a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Regis University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is principal of Mirador Counseling, a private practice in Denver, CO. Claudia specializes her practice on: trauma, domestic violence, and sexual assault with a focus on low to moderate-income markets. Her experience includes working with individuals, couples, family, children and youth. Prior to her counseling career she was in the financial services sector working in commercial and investment banking. Claudia currently serves on the Board of Directors of mpowered, a financial education non-profit.
Bruce Wiener, Ex Officio
Mr. Wiener is the founder and Executive Director of Bridge to Justice and an attorney who practices in the areas of family law, real estate and general civil litigation. Bruce is also a court-appointed attorney representing the mentally ill in civil commitment hearings in the Twentieth Judicial District and a contract attorney for Boulder County Legal Services. Recognized on several occasions by the Boulder County Bar Association for his pro bono service, he received the Boulder County Bar Association Young Lawyer of the Year Award in 2012.
Desmonne Bennett, Secretary
Desmonne Bennett is a partner at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP, focusing her practice on complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and antitrust and competition law. Representative matters have included monopolization claims, food and labeling law, M&A litigation, breach of contract issues, and trade secret litigation. She has significant trial experience in large, complex cases. She currently serves as a co-leader of the firm’s Lawyers of Color Affinity Group. A Boulder native, Desmonne attended the University of Colorado for both her undergraduate studies (economics/psychology) and law school. Prior to entering private practice, she clerked at the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
Steve Gimpel, At Large
In 1999, after a nineteen-year career in the tech industry, Steve began his second career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Steve's practice focuses on child custody issues and brings him in frequent contact with the legal system. Steve has also served on the Board of Directors of the Boulder Interdisciplinary Committee, the Colorado Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Boulder Montessori School, and South Boulder Little League.
